The Best of Gene Wolfe is an anthology of his most successful short stories, and wow does it live up to its name. Every story hits hard and drags you along no matter how tired you may be. I remember opening this sucker up some night before a physics test and forgetting to sleep the whole night (lets not talk about how I did on that test, okay?) Wolfe writes his own brand of sci-fi that blends in suspense and horror in marvelous dystopian worlds. If you don’t mind reading about the fall of humanity and you’ve got several hours planted in your favorite reading chair, pick this one up. Don’t forget your food and drink before you start. I’m not responsible if you get thirsty, because this book does not let up.
