Howdy! My name’s Bob, and welcome to my site! Here, I post my own creative work, along with the occasional book review. I love telling stories; I hope you enjoy reading and hearing them!
Home for me is Houston, Texas. I’m in love with the wide, open spaces, the abundance of great food, and especially with pecans. I go nuts for those suckers!
I fill my days studying economics, business, and mathematics at Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts (I’m entering my senior year!) and my nights with writing. I’ve been fascinated by storytelling ever since I was a kid, when my parents would make up stories before bed. As I got older, they prompted me more and more to take turns at the wheel, and before I knew it I was obsessed! But it wasn’t until a vocabulary assignment – make a story using all the words on the list – in 9th grade that I became a writer. I’ve been at it ever since, and love every day of it.
Pictured above: me (right?) and my muse, Athena, my mom’s pet dalmitbull. She likes to be included on the writing process – she makes that preference very clear.
Over the years I’ve written some of everything, but I find myself returning most frequently to horror and science fiction. Some of the writers most influential for me are Edgar Allen Poe and H. P. Lovecraft – I love the cosmic horror genre – as well as John Scalzi, Joe Abercrombie, Margaret Atwood, Octavia Butler, Gene Wolfe, and my current favorite author, Ted Chiang, whose work will baffle and inspire me until the end of time.
If you’re interested in my work, follow the blog, or connect with me on my Instagram! I’ve recently started recording pieces of flash fiction and posting them there. I hope you enjoy!
